TUSCANY – middle ages
The Castello di Velona, is a UNESCO heritage site.
It is located in a privileged position, overlooking the wonderful Val d’Orcia, just minutes from the art treasures of Siena, Montalcino, Montepulciano and San Gimignano.
The origins of the fort date back to the eleventh century, and the oldest part still visible today is the watchtower of the twelfth century, witness of the clashes between the Republic of Florence and that of Siena. The loggia dates back to the Renaissance period, when the manor was turned into a residential villa.
You can enjoy the best of Tuscan cuisine and wines and relax in the thermal spa, while in the ancient cloister of the castle it will be possible to taste the best spirits.
